My first book was “The Practical Guide to Strategy Mapping: A Hands on Approach to Translating Strategy into Action.”
I am an expert in the areas of strategy formulation and execution, and business performance measurement and management - people tell me that I'm an effective strategy mapping master practitioner and Balanced Scorecard trainer. Leveraging my innovative, proprietary tools, I'm experienced in helping organizations of all sizes align their programs and services, business processes, strategic projects, and resources (financial and non-financial) with business strategy.
I have over 20 years of progressive business performance management and leadership experience, including 8 years of hands-on strategy creation and execution, and performance measurement and management leadership (including strategy map and Balanced Scorecard development) at the Canada Life Assurance Company and Barrick Gold Corp., and over 13 years of strategy formulation, execution, and management consulting in the public, municipal, not-for-profit, and private sectors.
I began my consulting firm in 2001. As a result of my background in healthcare and rehabilitation, I specialize in helping healthcare organizations (through my affiliated company "Collaborative Strategy") but my client list also includes non-healthcare organizations.
A key element of my consulting practice has been a dedication to “collaborative strategy” - a methodology that gives employees and key external stakeholders a seat at the strategy table, expanding their role beyond consultation to active participation in the creation of business strategy and the strategy execution roadmap. The result of this ground-breaking approach is a higher quality, more actionable strategy that organizations can actually put into motion, allowing them to achieve their desired business performance results and stakeholder outcomes.
